Premium rhodium plating for the hardest, most reflective finish available. Plate over nickel — apply copper flash and nickel first on non-copper surfaces.
The Rhodium Plating Pen produces the hardest, brightest, and most tarnish-resistant finish available across the Micro-Metallizer pen lineup. Used extensively in jewelry finishing — particularly for white-gold rings and settings where rhodium provides the characteristic bright-white color — and in industrial applications calling for an extremely hard, reflective surface (optical components, premium electrical contacts, decorative instrument work).
Rhodium is the most expensive of the standard plating metals, which is reflected in this pen's price. For shops doing high-volume rhodium work, replenishment cartridges should be ordered ahead of need.
Requires a nickel underlayer in nearly all cases. On non-copper substrates, the full sequence is: degrease → copper flash → nickel → rhodium.
